NAPA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent K Mike Nugent, the club announced Saturday.
Nugent joins the Raiders a veteran of 13 seasons, spending time with the New York Jets (2005-08), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009), Arizona Cardinals (2009), Cincinnati Bengals (2010-16), Dallas Cowboys (2017) and most recently with the Chicago Bears. Originally a second-round pick (47th overall) of the Jets in the 2006 NFL Draft, Nugent has appeared in 161 contests and registered an 81 percent career average on field goals, making 247-of-305 attempts, while making 359-of-372 (96.5 percent) PATs and totaling 1,100 points. He has appeared in five postseason games, making 7-of-8 field goal attempts and connecting on all five PATs.
Last season, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound kicker spent time with both the Cowboys and Bears, connecting on 11-of-13 field goal attempts (84.6 percent) while making 15-of-17 (88.2 percent) PATs.
In a corresponding move, the Raiders have waived K Giorgio Tavecchio. Tavecchio was elevated to the active roster ahead of the club's Week 1 contest in 2017 and made 16-of-21 field goal attempts while going 33-of-34 on PATs.
