Scott Boe asks:
"Which pending free agents are being considered a priority to re-sign?"
There are 17 players set to become unrestricted free agents and 11 players who will become restricted or exclusive rights free agents in March of this year. Several of those players were key contributors for the Silver and Black defense this season, including Robert Spillane, Tre’von Moehrig and John Jenkins, who started all 17 games in 2024.
A few of those free agents are young players that earned expanded roles due to injuries – including Jordan Meredith, K'Lavon Chaisson and Week 16's AFC Defensive Player of the Week Isaiah Pola-Mao.
It will likely be a priority in the near future to bring back some of these contributors, however, it's hard to predict how the roster will shake out until a head coach and general manger are in place. Once they arrive in the building, an identity for the 2025 roster will start to reveal itself.
Anthony Jenkins from Florida asks:
"How much does our final draft position affect ability/availability of drafting a QB?"
It's hard to assess when and where the Raiders could acquire another quarterback, especially if they're looking for one in the upcoming draft.
Sports pundits' highest regarded quarterbacks in this draft class, Cam Ward from Miami and Shedeur Sanders from Colorado, could both be selected in the top five. With the Raiders holding the No. 6 overall pick, they would likely have to trade up a few spots or be patient and see if one of them slides if they desire either of these prospects.
If both are off the board, there are still some viable options later in the draft. Riley Leonard from Notre Dame and Jalen Milroe from Alabama combined for 36 rushing touchdowns in 2024. The two dual threat quarterbacks also initially agreed to attend the upcoming Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss, who threw for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns his senior season, is also emerging as a dark horse prospect.
Stephen Angelucci from Connecticut asks:
"What are the most important positions we need to address this upcoming draft?"
The one that comes to my mind is running back, considering the large amount of depth at that position in the 2025 draft class.
The Las Vegas Raiders rushed for a league-low 79.8 rushing yards a game in 2024. There's a great opportunity to watch a few talented running backs in the CFB National Championship game on January 20, which will include Ohio State's two-headed monster of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, who combined for 22 rushing touchdowns this season. While Henderson is a senior, Judkins could potentially declare for the draft after the title game.
Other top running back prospects to look at are Heisman Trophy finalist Ashton Jeanty from Boise State, Omarion Hampton from North Carolina, and Cam Skattebo from Arizona State.
With free agency set to begin on March 12th, take a look at the Raiders officially slated to become free agents.
