2024 Raiders Position Review: Quarterbacks

Players on active roster

Players on injured reserve

The Las Vegas Raiders rolled out three quarterbacks during the 2024 season, with Minshew and O'Connell both picking up two wins a piece in their starts.

Minshew was initially named the starter heading into the regular season after beating out O'Connell for the role. In Minshew's first five games, he totaled a 70.7 completion percentage. However, turnovers became an issue as he recorded a 4:5 touchdown to interception ratio plus a fumble lost in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

After a 2-3 start, O'Connell replaced Minshew as the starter moving forward – throwing for 227 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 32-13 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The following week, the second-year quarterback suffered a thumb injury and was placed on injured reserve. Minshew took over as starter again and threw for five touchdowns and 845 yards through four games. Turnovers still plagued the QB, committing four between Weeks 8 through 11. He was sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken collarbone in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos.

O'Connell was activated off injured reserve following Minshew's season-ending injury and turned in his best game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Black Friday. He threw for a career-high 340 passing yards and two touchdowns in a tight 19-16 defeat. In O'Connell's last five games of the 2024 season, he threw for 1,157 yards and six touchdowns plus tacked on 30 rushing yards.

Ridder was signed off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in Week 8 following O'Connell's injury. He later started Week 14's Monday Night Football matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in place of O'Connell, who suffered a reported bone bruise the previous week. Facing the team that drafted him, Ridder threw for 208 yards and a touchdown along with 28 rushing yards in the 15-9 defeat. He ended the season with 458 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in his six appearances for the Silver and Black. Ridder is set to become a restricted free agent when the new league year begins in March.

Carter Bradley, a rookie UDFA signing from South Alabama, spent the majority of the season on the practice squad before signing to the active roster in Week 15 for the remainder of the season.
