Players on injured reserve
It was a disappointing season for the Raiders' rushing attack as they averaged 79.8 rushing yards a game. Nevertheless, there were still a few big time performances throughout the year that deserve recognition, with the ground game improving in the second half of the season.
Zamir White began the season as the team's starter after backing up Josh Jacobs his first two seasons in the league. While expectations were high for "Zeus," he struggled out the gate. He averaged a little over three yards a carry in the first four games of the season before a groin injury sidelined him for two games.
In White's absence, Alexander Mattison rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown across Weeks 5 and 6. Mattison started seven total games in 2024 and finished the season with a team-high 420 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
The tandem of White and Mattison were sidelined after both being injured in Week 11's matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Looking for more depth at the position, Sincere McCormick was elevated from the practice squad for two games. The 2022 UDFA averaged nearly six yards a carry in that span before signing to active roster and being named the starter heading into Week 14. He averaged five scrimmage yards a touch in his two starts before suffering an ankle injury that placed him on injured reserve.
With McCormick and White both on injured reserve, 10-year veteran Ameer Abdullah and Mattison, who returned to action in Week 14, steered the rushing attack. Abdullah rushed for a career-high 115 yards in the Raiders' Week 17 victory over the New Orleans Saints and compiled five total touchdowns throughout the year, his most in a season since 2017.
Raiders' 2024 sixth-round pick Dylan Laube and Chris Collier handled a combined six carries between them through their rookie seasons. They saw most of their action on special teams, with Laube averaging 27.3 yards per kickoff return and Collier averaging 32.5 yards per kickoff return.
Former Los Angeles Chargers running back Isaiah Spiller signed to the practice squad heading into Week 16, eventually signing a reserve/future contract this January.
