The Oakland Raiders took part in a full practice session on their new practice fields at the team's Alameda, Calif., facility Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders host the Arizona Cardinals on NBC's Sunday Night Football in a pivotal third preseason game for both teams. Many of the Raiders position battles remain unsettled heading into Sunday's night' game at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
Here are today's practice observations:
The new grass fields are impressive. Lush, comfortable green grass – two full-length, full-width fields now sit at the Raiders Alameda facility and the players took advantage of both fields at today's practice.
Linebacker Sio Moore and running back Roy Helu, Jr., returned to practice after missing significant time.
Tight end Clive Walford, fullback Jamize Olawale and wide receiver Andre Holmes did not participate.
New Raiders safety Taylor Mays practiced with his teammates for the first time.
Cornerback Keith McGill has been holding his own in one-on-ones with wide receivers, which isn't the easiest task with no pass rush present.
Seth Roberts continues to flash in practice with both his hands and footwork.
All members of the defense spent some time early in practice working on wrapping up and rolling ballcarriers.
Offensive tackle Anthony Morris fared well in one-on-ones today and had a particularly impressive rep stonewalling linebacker Josh Shirley.
Play of the Day
Quarterback Derek Carr hit rookie wide receiver Amari Cooper deep down the left sideline on the last play of one-on-one/positional drills.
