Notes and Observations from Day 10 of Practice
Offense
- Zamir White put together quite a few good runs. While known for his physical run style, he also has more then enough speed to excel in Luke Getsy's scheme.
- It was another prosperous day for rookies Brock Bowers and Ramel Keyton, both reeling in multiple catches. While Keyton is still trying to make a name for himself as a UDFA, Bowers has put himself in place to see a lot of reps immediately. "He certainly has some physical traits that a lot guys don't have coming out of college," tight ends coach Luke Steckel said. "That's a fun player to coach for someone like me."
- A competition could be brewing at right tackle between Thayer Munford Jr. and DJ Glaze. While Munford went back to handling the majority of first-team reps Tuesday, the rookie tackle from Maryland looked formidable in pass protection against the second-team defense. "His demeanor, he doesn't get phased by anything," offensive line coach James Cregg said of Glaze. "He's not relaxed [but] it's not too big for him."
Defense
- Jack Jones had a monster day with two interceptions and a few pass breakups. The first interception came in three-on-three drills, jumping a route to perfection. The second came during team period when he jumped a cross route on the sideline.
- Tre’von Moehrig also had an interception during team period, coming up to jump a route in the middle of the field.
- M.J. Devonshire is starting to emerge as an option in the secondary, making a few plays throughout practice in team period and three-on-three drills.
Special Teams
- DJ Turner, Ameer Abdullah, Dylan Laube saw the majority of reps on kick and punt return Tuesday. All three players are listed as kick returners on the team's initial depth chart.
