Raiders Host FLAG Regional Tournament

Local boys and girls competed in the round-robin, day-long NFL FLAG powered by USA Football Regional Tournament, coordinated by the National Football League and The Oakland Raiders. The winning teams from each age bracket (9-11 coed; 12-14 boys; 12-14 girls) advanced to the National Tournament of Champions in early 2012 (site to be determined). 

Pro Football Hall of Famer and Oakland Raiders legend Jim Otto was at the tournament meeting and signing autographs for the youth players, parents, and coaches. Head Coach Hue Jackson also stopped by to visit with the tournament participants.

Other NFL teams hosting NFL FLAG powered by USA Football Regional* *Tournaments in 2011 included the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints. Those seven regional tournaments are joined by one in New Canaan, Conn.

NFL FLAG powered by USA Football is sponsored by Verizon. Verizon representatives were on hand to take part in all coin tosses, championship festivities and trophy presentations.

The Oakland Raiders Regional Tournament winners:

12-14 Girls – C2CSA Lady Raiders from Las Vegas, NV – Coach Grace Garcia

9-11 Coed – WASUP Chargers from Las Vegas, NV – Coach Bob Haberstock

12-14 Boys – Southgate Raiders from Southgate, CA – Coach Rafael Enriquez
