While The Oakland Raiders were in Houston to face the Texans last weekend, another form of football took to the field at the team?s Alameda, Calif., facility as the Raiders organization hosted an NFL FLAG Football Regional tournament. Seven a.m. marked the beginning of an exciting day as 34 teams began the check-in process for what was going to be a fun and unforgettable day for the young athletes.

Throughout the morning the teams participated in pool play followed by playoffs in the afternoon. The seeding for the playoffs was based on the team?s performance during pool play.

The tournament featured various levels of competition in the following age groups:
9-11 Co-ed
12-14 Boys
12-14 Girls

The Watsonville Tri County League Bengals walked away winners of the 9-11 Co-Ed bracket, while the WASUP Lady Raiders won the 12-14 Girls tourney. The Tulare Buccaneers joined the winners as the 12-14 Boys champions.

The winning teams from each age bracket of the NFL FLAG Regional Tournaments will go on to play in the NFL FLAG National Tournament of Champions. The NFL will host the FLAG National Tournament of Champions in conjunction with the 2010 Pro Bowl in South Florida on January 29th and 30th.
