It's that time of the year again! With the football season right around the corner The Oakland Raiders hosted a Gatorade Junior Training Camp for the Eastside Youth Athletic Club (EYAC) in San Jose on Wednesday, August 19th.
Seventy-five boys and girls, ages 7-12 gathered at the Overfelt High School football field where they enjoyed an afternoon full of football, fun and Gatorade.
"Having the Raiders host this camp was so much fun. EYACwas gladto have the Raiders and Gatorade bringthiscampto us forour children to enjoy," said MariaGuillen, team mom for the Raiders, a team within the EYAC league.
EYAC is a non-profit organization affiliated with the San Jose Police Athletic League and has been a part of the community for over 39 years. Since 1970, the EYAC has been coaching youth football and cheerleading in order to foster leadership, teamwork, and to provide a safe alternative to the negative influences in the streets.
"EYAC Football and Cheer is an organization forthe youth tohave apositive outlook on team sports and have fun during the season. I would like thank Oakland Raiders and Gatorade for the camp," said Frank Ramos, president of the EYAC.
Currently there are about 150 boys participating in football and approximately 100 girls in cheerleading. The Oakland Raiders would like to wish EYAC good luck this season and thank them for being a positive influence in our community.
