To help kickoff the start of the 2017 season, the Oakland Raiders invited Chief Petty Officer Matt Martinez to reenlist at Raiders Training Camp to continue his 18 years of service in the US Navy.

Raised in Madera Calif., he entered military service in September 1999 and he has completed multiple deployments aboard Naval Warship Aircraft Carriers including two deployments circling the globe. As an Aviation Electronics Technician he repaired, maintained and launched F/A-18 Super Hornet Aircraft in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Now as a Technical Instructor he trains the "Elite of the Fleet" in highly skilled aircraft repairs. Martinez, his wife, two sons, two officers, and four fellow friends from command attended camp as VIP guests. Upon the conclusion of practice, Martinez swore an oath in the presence of his officers to complete his re-enlistment ceremony.
