Quick Snap: Raiders unable to muster win in Miami

The Las Vegas Raiders aren't able to make enough plays down the stretch in Week 11, falling to the Miami Dolphins, 34-19.

Costly penalties played a factor for both teams on their opening drives. An unnecessary roughness and defensive holding call on the Raiders put the Dolphins in place to punch in a touchdown on the one-yard line with a Tua Tagovailoa pass to Jonnu Smith.

The Dolphins defense forced a three-and-out on the Raiders before a running into the punter penalty that extended the drive. That penalty, along with a defensive holding on cornerback Jalen Ramsey, resulted in Daniel Carlson knocking through a 27-yarder.

Each team was able to fend off the other from reaching the end zone throughout the rest of the first half. While there were opportunities for both offenses to hit paydirt, a sack by Adam Butler and tight end Michael Mayer slipping up short of the goal line forced both teams to kick more field goals.

The next touchdown of the game would come from the Dolphins most dynamic playmaker, Tyreek Hill. The 2023 All-Pro receiver slid past the cornerback and safety in coverage to grab a eight-yard pass in the left corner of the end zone. Hill finished the day with seven catches for 61 yards.

However on the Raiders' next drive, they responded with the help of emerging star tight end Brock Bowers. Quarterback Gardner Minshew II drove the ball down the field 70 yards, ultimately capitalizing on a one-on-one matchup the rookie tight end had in coverage. A 23-yard foot race to the end zone brought the Silver and Black within one score.

Bowers finished the day as the game's leading receiver with 13 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown. With his performance, he became the second tight end in NFL history to record multiple games of 10+ receptions in his rookie season.

The Raiders and Dolphins traded touchdowns on the next three possessions, as De'Von Achane found the end zone on two-yard rush and Minshew hit Ameer Abdullah for a 10-yard touchdown pass.

What sealed up the day was Tagovailoa finding Smith for a second touchdown, wide open on a busted coverage that ended in a 57-yard haymaker to the end zone.

Ramsey snagged an interception on the following possession, placing the game out of reach.

The Raiders now head back to the West Coast looking for a way to break their six game losing streak with a home matchup against the Denver Broncos next Sunday.
