Quick Snap: Raiders fall flat in Tampa Bay

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered another defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 28-13, in Week 14.

It seemed things were going to get out of hand early when the Buccaneers took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Baker Mayfield went 6-of-7 for 67 yards on the first drive that ended with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jalen McMillan.

After a three-and-out from the Raiders offense, Tampa drove the ball 52 yards down the field, culminating in Mayfield throwing his second touchdown of the game, this time to running back Rachaad White.

Then suddenly, the Raiders defense flipped the switch. Three of the Buccaneers' next four possessions ended in turnovers, making it the Raiders defense's first game with multiple turnovers this season.

The first was a perfect read from edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson off the line of scrimmage as he intercepted a screen pass. On the next drive, linebacker Amari Burney forced a fumble on Bucky Irving, with safety Tre’von Moehrig coming away with the team's first fumble recovery this season. The third turnover came at the end of the first half when cornerback Jack Jones leapt in the end zone for his second interception this season.

Additionally, Mayfield was sacked three times in the first half – courtesy of Burney, Adam Butler and Darnay Holmes.

The help from the defense resulted in two scores for the offense – a touchdown rush at the goal line by Aidan O'Connell and a 25-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson – making it a 14-10 ballgame at the half.

As the game crept into the fourth quarter after a scoreless third for both teams, O'Connell went down with a knee injury and Desmond Ridder took over behind center with the game on the line.

While Ridder went 12-of-18 for 101 passing yards, the offense couldn't hit paydirt. Their one trip to the red zone in the fourth quarter ended with another made field goal by Carlson from 27 yards out.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay scored two touchdowns in the fourth to seal the 28-13 win.

The Silver and Black now fall to 2-11 on the season and will head back to Las Vegas for a Week 15 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
