What They're Saying: Familiarity brings out competitive battles in Raiders-Chiefs rivalry

The Raiders are on the road in Week 13 for a Black Friday contest against Kansas City.

Take a look at what the Chiefs' players and coaches had to say ahead of the divisional matchup.

On preparing for the Raiders:

"We sure look forward to the challenge of playing the Raiders. Good football team, playing confident football on really both sides of the ball. They've had a couple changes in there, we'll have to adjust to that. Our guys had a good week of practice and we know when the Raiders and Chiefs get together, it's always one of those kinds of games." - Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

On the challenges and benefits of playing the Raiders for a second time this season:

"Obviously it's a rivalry game, an AFC West opponent, guys we're familiar with, played multiple times in my career. With that, as familiar as we are with them, they're familiar with us as well. It's always a competitive battle. I have a lot of respect for that organization, that team as well. They always play tough. They have a lot of great ball players up front as well. Some of the challenges are the tendencies that they know that we have, we know that they have. It's sort of that tradeoff there where it's like OK, we sort of have played these guys, we have a feel for them. At the end of the day, it's going to be a tough game." - Chiefs guard Trey Smith

On the history of the Raiders-Chiefs rivalry:

"Well, there have been a lot of great games. I know both teams kind of understand that, that there's been a rivalry for a lot of years. Lot of great players, both sides, both teams, that's really where I'd tell you the history started back in the AFL with it. Both teams had good players and they battled each other, violently battled each other. Again, great competition against each other." - Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

On what makes DE Maxx Crosby so effective:

"The way he plays every single snap, no matter the score, no matter if it's a run or a pass. Whatever it is, he's going to give you everything he's got. Obviously physically gifted. He can make all the different pass rush moves, everything like that. But the way he plays, I think, inspires his team to play that hard. That's what you need to be great in this league." - Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes

On the Raiders offense:

"They've got good skill guys, got great tight ends, an offensive line that's coming together and gelling and then a quarterback situation that's been real fluid." - Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill

On what stood out about TE Brock Bowers in the first matchup:

"He's kind of a complete tight end, can run the full route tree. He's explosive, got great yards after the catch, great route running ability, fast in and out of breaks, can block as well. So, he's kind of a complete package for them." - Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill
