Raiders-Panthers Pick

By Nick Hennion, BETMGM

Based on odds from the BetMGM online sportsbook, I'm using the Raiders moneyline as the first leg of a moneyline parlay in Week 3.

Carolina is a dysfunctional team right now. The switch from Bryce Young to Andy Dalton may help, but history suggests Las Vegas is primed to win their second straight game.

Since 2003, favorites priced between -22 and -5.5 on the spread facing a team that accumulated under 200 yards in their last game are 81-18 SU (81.8%).

That system also assumes those teams have between four and seven days between games. When those favorites are coming off a win, they improve to 58-8 SU (87.9%).

Off a win facing a team that closed an underdog in their previous game: 39-3 SU (92.9%).

Even if you ignore those trends, I worry about the viability of Carolina's offensive line against the Raiders front seven.

Through two weeks, Las Vegas ranks third in pass rush win rate, per ESPN Analytics. Currently, Carolina is 26th in the corresponding offensive metric.

Add in Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce is 4-0 SU as a favorite in his tenure, and I'll take the Raiders to win their home opener.

To render the price more palatable for bettors, I'll pair the Raiders moneyline with the Cincinnati Bengals moneyline (-400). Those two legs get the price down to -134.
