Raiders-Bengals Pick

By Nick Hennion, BETMGM

Based on odds from the BetMGM online sportsbook, I'm taking the Raiders Spread (+7, -105) against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9.

Vegas continues to play well as big underdogs this season. Including a Week 8 cover as home underdogs against the Chiefs, Antonio Pierce's side is now 3-0 ATS as dogs of +7 or higher.

Now, they get a Bengals team potentially without Orlando Brown or Tee Higgins. That should severely limit Cincinnati's ability to create a margin on Sunday.

Additionally, Cincinnati's defense has provided virtually no resistance to opposing offenses this season.

While recognizing the schedule has done Cincinnati no favors, it's still worrisome to see they're 23rd in points allowed and 30th in defensive success rate, per rbsdm.com.

If the Raiders offense can sustain drives and keep the Bengals offense off the field, it likely means they're able to stay within a big number.

History also tells bettors to fade the Bengals as big favorites against the spread.

Since 2003, road underdogs between +4.5 and +15.5 in games 3-12 are 60% ATS, assuming the opponent has a win percentage between 22% and 49%.

In games 8-12, those dogs improve to 64% ATS while covering the spread by 2.59 points per game.

As a result, it's the Raiders or nothing for me on Sunday in Cincinnati.
