Raiders-Dolphins Pick
By Nick Hennion, BETMGM
Based on odds from the BetMGM online sportsbook, I'm taking the Raiders Spread (+8, -115) against the Miami Dolphins in Week 11.
This is a fantastic spot for Vegas off a Week 10 bye week. With extended rest, they get a Dolphins team playing a home game on short rest after Monday Night Football.
Historically, that's not an ideal spot for favorites. Since 2003, conference favorites after a road MNF game between -8.5 and -0.5 are 43-70-5 ATS (38%).
When those teams fall between -8.5 and -5.5: 15-27-2 ATS (35.7%), including 2-12 ATS since 2016.
Plus, there's a clear game plan for Antonio Pierce in this game: run the ball effectively and keep Miami's offense off the field.
Entering Week 11, Miami's front seven has surrendered 4.4 yards per attempt to opposing offenses.
Although Las Vegas has struggled to run the ball this year, the extra prep should bolster their prospects against a weak run defense.
History also suggests fading favorites with bad rush defenses.
Since 2003, home favorites in game five onward allowing between 3.9 and 4.6 yards per attempt, are 43% ATS when listed between -8.5 and -4.5.
Add in Pierce is 5-2 ATS as a dog of +7 or higher and I'll take the points with Vegas.
