Quick Snap: Raiders hold strong to defeat Browns

The Las Vegas Raiders eked out a 20-16 victory against the Cleveland Browns inside Allegiant Stadium, defeating the Browns for a sixth consecutive time.

It was an ugly start for the Raiders on both sides of the ball. The Browns' first possession of the game took 9:22 off the clock, with quarterback Deshaun Watson going 8-for-8 on the drive with a touchdown pass to tight end Blake Whiteheart.

The Raiders offense went three-and-out on the following drive. Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins knocked in a 56-yarder to respond, giving the Browns taking a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.

After taking the gut punch from Cleveland out the gate, the Silver and Black came alive. They scored 20 unanswered points, fueled by a ground game that ended the day with 152 net rushing yards – the most this season for the Raiders.

In the second quarter, Gardner Minshew II led the offense down the field 70 yards with receiver Tre Tucker scoring on a 3-yard reverse to make it 10-7.

Daniel Carlson made two field goals to take a 13-10 lead in the third.

Then, Tre’von Moehrig came away with a clutch interception off a tipped pass. The offense made the turnover count as DJ Turner took a jet sweep up the left side for a 18-yard touchdown run. With Turner's first career touchdown, the Raiders took a 20-10 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The game was still far from over, though. With the Raiders offense at third-and-two in their own territory, Browns defensive end Isaiah McGuire punched the ball out of Zamir White's hands. Rodney McLeod Jr. recovered the ball and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, cutting the lead to four points after a failed extra-point attempt.

With 41 seconds left in the contest, it was a fourth-and-three for the Browns at the Raiders 9-yard line. The Silver and Black sent an all-out blitz with Charles Snowden getting home for the sack and icing the game.

One Minshew knee later, the Raiders claimed the 20-17 victory – now standing at 2-2 with a road trip to face the Denver Broncos up next.
