Halftime Report: Raiders trail 17-10 after late turnover leads to points for Chargers

A late turnover gave the Chargers a 17-10 lead over the Raiders at the break.

Here are some first-half takeaways:

Late Turnover Leads to Points for Los Angeles

Similar to the Week 1 matchup between the two teams, the Raiders got the ball with under two minutes to play in the first half and handed points to the Chargers just before the break.

Linebacker Daiyan Henley intercepted Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell and Los Angeles capitalized with a four-play, 30-yard drive in just 28 seconds to take the lead. Herbert found DJ Chark for the score and Ladd McConkey for the two-point conversion.

Chargers Find Offensive Success

Herbert spread the ball around to six different receivers in the first half completing 18-of-25 passes for 225 yards. Despite the yardage, the Chargers couldn't convert their drives into touchdowns early on.

Four of their five first-half possessions traveled inside the Raiders 35-yard line but resulted in only nine points. The late turnover helped them find the end zone for the first time.

Chargers receivers Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey combined for 12 catches and 189 receiving yards.

Meyers Vying for 1K

Jakobi Meyers entered today's game with a career-high 904 receiving yards on the season, 96 yards short of what would be the first 1,000-yard season of his six-year NFL career.

He finished the first 30 minutes as the team's leading receiver with six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. It marks his first time scoring touchdowns in back-to-back games since a three-game stretch from Week 5 to Week 7 in 2023. Meyers also surpassed his previous single-season career-high in catches (83) set in 2021.

Numbers to Know

- Today marks the 1,000th regular season game in Raiders franchise history. The team holds a 509-479-11 record through 999 games.

- After a career day against the Saints in Week 17, Ameer Abdullah was among the Raiders inactives today after not practicing all week with a foot injury. Alexander Mattison started at running back in his place and totaled five carries for 20 yards in the first half.

- Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker had made 18 consecutive kicks before his 51-yard miss in the first quarter.
