Halftime Report: Raiders score touchdown in final seconds to bring score within three at the half

A Chance to Impress

With the Raiders sitting starters sitting on both sides of the ball, the first half offered players vying for roster spots a chance to impress Head Coach Antonio Pierce and his staff.

Several plays and players stood out, particularly on defense. Janarius Robinson got things started with a tackle for loss on the third play of the game. Two plays later, Charles Snowden deflected Brock Purdy's pass at the line of scrimmage to hold the 49ers' offensive starters to a field goal on their opening possession.

The defense tallied three sacks in the first half, getting one each from Matthew Butler, Byron Young and Snowden. In the second quarter, Chris Smith II pulled down a tipped Purdy pass in the red zone for the team's second interception of the preseason.

Return Game Continues to Shine

For the second week in a row, the Raiders got an energy boost from their special teams unit. Last week against Dallas, it was a 43-yard punt return from Tre Tucker. Tonight, Tyreik McAllister, who led the CFL in kickoff return average and all-purpose yards last season, took a punt return 81 yards to the house for the Raiders' first points of the night.

Peterman Gets The Start

After signing with the team last week, Nathan Peterman got the start at quarterback. On the final drive of the half, the eight-year veteran executed a two-minute drill to perfection and capped a 10-play 79-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown pass to Kristian Wilkerson. Peterman finished the half 12-of-19 for 108 yards.
