Halftime Report: Tre Tucker doing a little bit of everything against the Cowboys

Big Play Tre

Tre Tucker had turned in an outstanding performance even before the second quarter hit.

With Gardner Minshew II in at quarterback, the two connected on three passes for 66 yards, including a long 48-yard bomb on a play-action pass. The stats don't tell the whole story either. The difficulty of Tucker's catches were impressive. Two of the receptions he hauled in were contested, getting his hands underneath the ball before it hit the ground.

He's also been just as impressive on special teams with a 43-yard punt return in the second quarter.

Fast start from the defense

The Raiders' first-team defense played the entirety of the first quarter and a few stayed on into the second quarter, with a clear chemistry brewing on the field.

They held the Cowboys offense to three points through the first quarter and limited them to 1-of-5 on third-down to start the game. Jack Jones, coming off an interception last Saturday against the Vikings, leads the team with two pass deflections and six total tackles against the Cowboys through the first half.

Another special play from No. 19

The Silver and Black have made it two straight preseason games with electric plays on special teams.

A blocked field goal by TJ Franklin last Saturday was followed up by some punt return action. Cowboys receiver Jalen Moreno-Cropper was running downhill when he was tripped up by Ameer Abdullah as the gunner. With the tackle, the ball slipped out of Moreno-Cropper's hands and DJ Turner was in perfect position to fall on the ball for the recovery.

It's another big play to add to Turner's 2024 preseason, having scored a 20-yard touchdown reception in Minnesota.
